Default damn stereo shop!

Ok so the other day my deck just goes out, wont turn on, nothing, when i click RMS it displays the time then goes away, and the cd would eject and go in, but nothing else!...

So i take it to a shop and buy a deck for it, and when they are installing it they notice the power line is no good, the fuse (the one 15 labled radio under the hood) was still good so they had no clue...

so their fix was to run a new power line from the fuse box on the side of the dash... it works, but i lost all functionality of the whole 20 minutes after you take the key out, and all those cool functions...

can anyone help me out, is there anything in that power line that could have shorted? where does it go? Are there anymore fuses to check? let me know thanks

i believe that only works with your stock stereo. i have an 02 and when i put my aftermarket pioneer in the radio shuts off when i turn the key off, it must be in accessory mode or the on position to keep playing once i have turned the truck off....

so to my knowledge this is how aftermarket radios are.....

In the side of the dash fuse box there is one called radio also. Check the fuse there to make sure it is not bad. It is hooked to the relay that has the key off delay as long as you dont open a door. My after maket works just like the factory deck did with the delay.

mmmmmmmmmm.....i wonder why mine doesnt?????

thinking some more about it, they probably just tapped into a 12volt switched source and didnt account for the fact that it must be wired into the relay stated above either through the factory wiring or with the wire they ran to retain the normal functions....that makes sense in my mind anyway....

Mine's the same way. Had aftermarket stereo when i got it. Someone OBVIOUSLY didn't know what they were doing because the factory stereo and speakers sound WAY better than the aftermarket pioneer system they put in it.

So as long as its wired the same as the factory stereo it should stay on right?

i had my pioneer unit put in at a shop. i had to buy a special harness to retain that feature, and it was fairly costly! they said it would work without it, but i would lose the feature of it staying on with the engine and key off. also, i think you lose the door beeping feature, when your door is open....

my brother wired his direct to accesory power without the harness in his 04, and lost his functions i just spoke of. i dont know much about it though, thats why i paid another foncker to do it.

i put a pioneer deck in my dads 4.8 ecsb and it stays on after u turn the key off..so i know it will work with an aftermarket deck.

My Alpine deck stays on after I shut the truck off, just like the factory deck. I bought one of the conversion harnesses. It wasn't real expensive, maybe $20 or so.
