Hey guys my buddy bought this box today for 20 bux but he has a 2011 crew cab sierra so it didnt fit in his but fits good in mine, i trade him my 2 single 12" boxes for this one, i already swaped subs but sounds to me like the 2 little boxes hit harder. did i get a good trade? is this style box any good? also can i put a port in it to make it better since its almost 1.5 cf per side?

I would sell it and buy 2 lil boxes if it sounded better.

 

So your little boxes sounded better.....did they face out like the new box or downfire cus downfire always sounds better. then its really up to the box cubic inch vs what the sub needs....i see the specs the new box has and it seems a lil large, unless the subs u have require bigger amount of air space. The bigger air space will make them deep and low sounding vs a tighter Hz level which sounds better in a small space like inder the seat. more specs on ur stuff would help, sub size(wattz) air space required, amp size, etc

 

You probably should've asked that beforehand. I wouldn't have traded. And I wouldn't even consider trying to port the box if I were you. Porting requires a lot more calculation than most realize.

Most likely a volume problem, since there were two seperate chambers in both boxes you've had. Power going to them is not a deciding factor in sound, when switching boxes when they're both sealed. Zero point in attempting to port that box for a set of Comp's, IMO. Just curious, what kind of rms are we looking at that are going to those at what ohm?

 

My last boxes were like .77cf each and the new box is like 1.4 cf chamber (individual chambers, it is not all together) in pushing them with a 1200w mono d and I have the 8ohm models so they're bridged down to 4ohm into the amp

 

So they're parallel @ 4 ohm, but what kind of amp is it? You're most likely doing under 300 watts rms @ 4 ohm. Just do some simple adjustments on the amp to compensate for the airspace. There's nothing complicated with that setup at all.

 

I don't know much about sound systems lol but I have an off brand planet audio 1200w x1 mono D it's one of the new black ones with the blue planet. What kind ofnadjisting could I do on my amp to compensate for the bigger air space? And yea it seems like a simple enough set up
