Default pulley down alt.???????

was wanderin if anyone has ever pullied down their stock alt.? i dont have trouble with it drivin down the road but when i sit at stoplights and such it will dip to 14 or lower on the gauge....

so, i was thinkin i might could put a smaller pully on the alt. to make it run a little faster to help when my rpm's are down while i am idling...

thoughts? TIA

i don't know of anyone who's ever done it, but if it works let us know. my electrical system is always dipping at stoplights too, dimming my headlights and such. swapped my alternator to no avail. i can't see it over charging...

You can get an overdrive pulley with the ASP crank pulley kit. There's a guy on another board that sells just the alt. pulley as well. Pretty sure you need a larger pulley on the alt. to compensate though?

mmmm.....i figured it would need to be smaller so it would spin faster but thats just my dumb logic

i have heard of it being done by an alt. shop here in town on lexus cars and others that have lots of electronics on the dash to give them just a little more charge when all the accessories are on but dont know if the have pullies for my truck or not....

i will go find out today and see what they say....

Thats awesome that a 1/4" made that much of a difference. Might have to try this soon.
