Default Panasonic giving me a problem

ok so i'm trying to put a panasonic head unit in my car and i take the old head unit out and i see a complete hackjob job that was performed. i finally get everything straightened out and now the sound is not playing but the unit is working fine.

if all else fails can i send the unit to panasonic and have them refurbish it? how much will that run me?

no the mute is not on!

btw i work 7/10s so bare with me if it takes a while to respond.

Thanks for the help.

sounds like you need to retrace the wires to the speakers. If the previous owner chopped up the wires it's likely they screwed up elsewhere too.

btw. I HATE when people cut the harnesses. Is it seriously that hard to order a plug/play harness?

i know bro i know it doesn't show when the car is put back together but i still know its back there. I'm going to buy a factory harness and fix it all back the way it should be

but it had a cheapo sony unit in there and the speakers worked but the unit crapped out. and i soldered all of the wires so its not a loose connection.

somebody should know the problem??

fwiw i had a bad *** panasonic head unit, month later, no sound, static, etc., just played the graphics, took it out, and u could barely smell a burnt smell in the back of it, radio shop said it was common, with that model, i forgot what they said it was that went out, so i run sony or pioneer now, good luck

Now that you mention that JGS. I had a Clarion in College that did the same thing. The stereo shop had to solder in a new chip in the back that was about 1x.5" and that fixed it. can't remember what it was called tho.

go to a local stereo shop. they can likely fix it for what it would cost to ship it.
