Default New alpine type r?

Anyone tried out the new type r subs yet? More specifically in a 10? My amp will push 1000 watts at 2 ohms which is what the sub calls for at rms. wondering how they hit with that or close to it

you need to make sure you have enough air apace and decide weather it will be a sealed or ported enclosure. your amp should be fine.

The box is .8 cubic feet. It's the same one bassworx makes for under the seat in an ext. cab truck. But I made it on my own and extended it a bit to make a little more space than the bassworx box. The sub calls for 1 cubic foot. So I'm just shy of it.

Never mind the sub calls for .55cft. With a sealed box

This new year all the subs have pretty much moved up a class. The new type S is equivalent to the last year type R. The new Type R is equivalent to the old Type X. They sound absolutely amazing in a proper enclosure. Doesn't matter what Alpine says, I'd never run a type R sealed, and definitely not in an enclosure that small sealed. Type S would probably be more up your alley, and if you're responsible with the listening, running it off 1000 watts wouldn't be instant death for it either. Just my $.02

you shouldn't just put a port in the box. Subs require different specs for ported enclosures vs sealed. Not the least of which is ported enclosures need to be larger, and you have to factor in port displacement.
