I finally (i think, i hope) found my dying battery problem. I hooked up a multimeter between the negative terminal wire on the battery and started pullin fuses. I got to the radio fuse and all went down to 07 ma. What all is on that circut, I want everything. I know that the guage cluster is on there as I pulled the fuse for safe keepin and lost my guages. I have an aftermarket stereo and deck. Which have been in there for years so I don't think its that. And its a big project to go through that so I figured that i'd start small. Any suggestions.

 

A short somewhere in the system. A blown speaker can cause it as well.

damn it, well it was going good for a week then I parked the truck one morning after grayvies and didn't touch it again intill two days later and ....click...click...click. And the fuse was pulled like always as I haven't chased it yet. So I guess i'll go and check for a draw again but like I said it was only .07mv after i pulled the problem fuse so that don't make sense. Also the battery was tested and good as that was the first thing I checked.

Well so far I have traced it back to the guage cluster. I spoke to the dealer and they said that they have had problems with the cluster pack shorting out and causing a substantial draw. The solution is to replace the cluster.....which is quite expensive.

 

ahhh... mabey not I musta missed the fuse for the bcm and its loses voltage when disconnected. I did a voltage check again as the battery was dead again with the guage cluster disconnected this mornin. This time there was about .05 voltage draw then all of a sudden it went up to .70 so I started pullin fuses again and when I pulled the bcm the voltage went down to .05 just the same as the radio fuse except the bcm takes about 5-10 secs to go down in voltage. The thing wit hteh cluster is it gets some info from the bcm so thats the link there. Gonna dig further into it tomorrow.
