I just bought a new eclipse double din w/ GPS. where's the best place to put the gps antenna? was thinking of stringing the wire through my 3rd brake lights and putting the antenna on the roof.. what are my options?

 

that will be ur best option. the antenna needs full opening to work and fuction properly.
its either there or through the dash, up the water seal in the door and out right by the windshield. but most audio stores do the third break light to the roof cuz its less noticeable and can charge u out the *** cuz they have to take a lot out the cab to run the cord

well, nothing a coat hanger and electrical tape can't fish through to find the wire on the other side... I'll try that first.....Anyway, just cut out the din a little with the dremel to allow more room for the double din. I'll post a couple of pics after it's all wired up.

If it is anything like the one with the pioneer units, I went from under the dash, notch a lil place in the fuse cover, then another place in the weather striping at the front of the door, ran the wire threw it then glued it back up(weather strip) around the wire, placed the magnetic antenna on the top rail of the inner fender, under the edge hood, back by the hood hinges. You can't tell it is even there, even if you look, it works perfect...

 

do ya'll know how to bypass the safety screen on these eclipse HUs?

I stuck my gps antenna on the metal bar behind the radio mount and I have a full signal everywhere I go except for tunnels and the such.

 

Yea, I thought you could mount it under the dash, as long as it has a clean signal through the windshield. Factory GPS antennae are located on/in the dash?
