Default Door speaker install

Got some inifinity 6022si door speakers for an early Christmas present. Went out today in the garage to hook em up. Slight problem. The wire harness for the factory speaker has a connection to the factory speaker with a black plastic square thingy. The new Infinity speakers have the slip connections like this

So i would need to cut the wires away from the harness and solder them to the connections, then use some shrink wrap to insulate and protect the connections? That wouldn't be a problem, but i don't have a soldering iron at the house

How did you do it?

If it makes any difference, I do have the bassblocker things that will be installed also

Just run to a parts store and get the female spades that are that size. Cut the factory connector off and crimp them on and go.

I would if the roads weren't covered in sleet/ice and it wasn't blowing snow around at 30mph

I got my Infinity's from Crutchfield, and they provided an adapter harness for free. That way everything was just plug-n-play. In your case, without adapters, I would cut the factory harness 3 inches back of the connector(so the installation is reversible), and solder/heat-shrink your lead wires for the Infinity's.

Well my girlfriend forgot to give them vehicle specifics

I had to call them customer service to get them to email me a guide on how to get the door panel off.

I bet if you call & give them your order number, they will be happy to ship you the harness kits. Their customer service has always been top notch.

Agreed, they have some of the best service I've dealt with.

Since I'm installing the bass blockers anyways, I think I ought to brush up on my soldering skills, strip the wire and solder the connections. I doubt with the harness you can install the blockers anyways.

Door is super easy to get off...

First pop off the plastic around the handle, the plastic door lock, and the triangle piece at the corner of the window. Then there should be a screw under the armrest, where you removed the plastic doorlock and check the bottom of the door trim... some have 1-2 screws on them. Once all the screws are removed you should be able to grab the armrest on the door and lift up like towards the sky then pull towards the cab and it should slide right off. might have to undo a light socket depending on the model then the panel should be off.

Unscrew the stock speaker, some are housed in plastic clamp things, at least its how my 02 is. cant remember for sure on the 03+
A. you can unscrew the old speaker out of the housing if you have it and screw the new speaker in place of the old or
B. Get some metal tapping screws and screw the new speakers in the door itself, may only be able to get 3 in though. the chevy door speaker holes are actually 6-3/4...

as for connecting just get a wire diagram offline for + and - make sure you hook them up right, we would just strip the wire then solder them to the connections on the speaker. Also if you hook the connections up backwards the speaker will still work but may not be as clear so make sure the + and - are right! then reverse order of removing the panel... goodluck

Its snowing here and im not going outside to assure that everything i said is 100% correct lol. Im doin this all by memory. Guess thats what installing Car audio for 5yrs does to ya lol let me know if ya have any other questions

I've got the door panel off no problem. I got the instructions emailed to me from crutchfield. I just need solder, which i don't have right now. And highways are closed, there's been tons of wrecks and everything with the sleet/snowstorm going on. So I'm not leaving the house!
