Default digital gauge install

Got a question about hooking up the dimming part of the gauge on my 00 Silverado. I need to know which wire to hook up to dim the lights on the gauge when my headlights come on. I know which wire to hook up from the gauge just need to know what wire to hook up to on the switch or where ever else in the dash from the gauge????? It says:5. The orange wire needs to be connected to the positive side of the parking lights. The easiest way is to tap into the wire on the parking lights assembly or you can also connect it at the headlamp switch. This is optional. If it is not hooked up then the gauge will simply not dim when you turn on your headlamps. Any help would be great!!

I took a voltage meter and tested the wires under the dash near the switch. I just looked for the wire that read 12 volts+/- when the lights were on and didn't read anything when the lights were off. I can't remember where I spliced the wire in. I may have just spliced right in the middle of the wire.
What kind of gauges did you get, Dakota Digital?

hey take a test light and nip your wire back just a tad and test it at low or dimest and turn it to brighter by the switch while testing it and it should make your test light brighter as the lights get brighter. This is what worked for me when i added the under dash lights to my truck. i think its a light green colored wire.
