Well I am going to try and quit smoking again, never should have started up again... Just wondering what other people have done to quit... I have an appointment with my doctor on Thursday to discuss some medication options and what not... Any suggestions would be welcome, I really want it to stick this time oh and my GF would love it too!!!
Thanks

you just REALLY have to be ready to quit. I thought I was several times, I'd look at a cig in my hand and think, "Why did I just light this thing up?" but at the same time I couldn't throw it on ground.
With the aid of sunflower seeds I got off smoking. It worked for my GF also (2 months after I quit, which made it hard on me and easier on her). I did figure out that I didn't have the will power to quit 100%, so I do dip now and then... especially when I've been drinking. Two weeks ago I lost my can when I was out riding on the 4 wheeler "exploring" and trying to drain the ice chest of beer.... I bummed a smoke from a friend to hold me over until we got back to the truck, it tasted like I just licked an ashtray, I realized that I wanted nothing to do with smoking anymore at that point - after I had quit for about 6 months. My next stage is another bag of sunflower seeds waiting in my truck, if I can get rid of the dip I'll be home free (at least I use way less than I did smoke)

It's that simple. Don't pick one up and put it in your mouth. I have quit for 4 years (sept) but the desire hits me on occasion still. I just don't act on the impulse. I feel a hell of a lot better and I can breathe!
Just quit. The urges are strong, I just chewed a piece of gum every time I wanted a smoke. In my opinion drugs don't work. I don't know anyone who has stayed quit chewing nicotine, patches etc. It will be up to you to just do it.

Yep I really want to quit, and I have several times, it is just those times I get completely pissed off at work (which is often, I have kinda a stressful job) that I end up breaking my smoke free streak...

I never got addicted. For a while i was smoking cigars on my drive home from work to help with the boredom. but decided It's not something I want to do anymore and just stopped buyen em.
For me it's all about will power and what you really want.
It'll help you if you switch over to something else to occupy your mind. Chew gum, or sun flower seeds. The only problem with seeds is you need to make sure you brush your teeth when you get home or the salt will start getten to em.

Will power has something to do with it but the addiction is physical as well as emotional. Nicotine is one of the most incessant addictions. Everywhere you go people are smoking making it somewhat socially acceptabe.
