Default officially joined the club!

of those who have cooked a 4l60e!

driving down the road last night and lost 3rd and 4th. that will **** ya off luckily i was only about 2 miles from my parents house so 2nd got me there. my fluid is brown so i figure my torque converter needs a rebuild too. does gm really not have enough problems with these transmissions to justify the price of designing a better transmission?

That sucks Stewart!!! I was reading somewhere about these 4l60e's and how they are not capable of handling a stock 5.3 motor. They said GM puts a lot of torque management to "solve" this problem. They do fine if you leave it stock like mine! 135k miles and no problems! That's what I so worried about getting a tune. Tranny go... = .

probably...im checking into a few more shops before making any final decisions. i have other cars to drive so its not a major delimma. depends on what i can get for how much other places. i might just go for a $500 rebuild to factory with a transgo and billet servos thrown in it.
