Not really, but my friends and I did shoot a propane tank at about 700 yards with a Barrett .50 for fun...

i have wanted too, Theres just not anywhere close to me to shoot that far. Theres a place way down south by the border of mexico but thats an 8hr drive. I have a 30-378 weatherby mag that will reach out and touch something just no room to try it

I've shot some long shots, not quite 1000 yards but ive shot some 5-600 yarder's before. They are fun but you must have good optics and be very steady on the bench.
Post up and let us know how ya hit!

Why 270? Youre going to have to elevate like 8'(seriously) to even get in the neighborhood. Ive got a 30-378 weatherby that my dad has shot to a little over 700yds, I personally have only shot around the 600yd range. This wasnt target shooting, it was actually at animals so cant really give any advice on the shooting it was just natural reaction.
My dad on the other hand had a lease out in senora for a few years and played around a bunch with long range shots. What kind of advice are you looking for? I know you know the basics already. If it was me Id use a larger caliber and a heavier bullet, even the slightest wind at that distance is going to move your shot quite a bit.

I shot NRA sanctioned long range rifle matches years ago. M1A in .308. Only out to 600 yards. Open sights. Did it for a couple years.
I'm fixing to get back into it. Just picked up a new Uberti 1885 Special Sporter. 32" octagon barrel in 45-70. Gotta save my pennies and pick up some good sights before I step much further back than a 100 yards. Goal being to ring a 600 yard ram at will.
600 yd shooting was tough. Don't know if a 270 and 140gr bullet would be my first choice. Especially at a 1000. Any wind and GOOD LUCK!.

Just wanted to see who was into it. Theres guys shooting .223s out to 800 and 900. I know a .270 can do it if a light weight .223 can.
Im using a Millett TRS 4-16x50, it has alot of adjustment so i hope it has enough elevation, if not ill go with the 20moa base and hope that works..
This summer we are goin to slaughter some deer out there so i need to reach out as far as i can as accurately as i can.
Im building my .22-250 in to a sure shooter with a Kreiger barrel. Actually its goin to be a 22x47

Suppose to be able to blast a .4moa easy.
