awd convert

ok i had an 05 ss awd with 12k miles on it, awesome truck, it was tuned had the basic cai and exhaust and was really quick, so quick it left my driveway without my permission and ended up 80 miles away gutted and stripped! ever since then i have wanted another one, but slightly different. i wanted a regular cab awd truck, so i did some research and found out it is possible to convert one. so after much searching i found a 4x4 06 rcsb with the 5.3 in it and bought it, now i need a transfer case and the front axle/driveshaft and everthing else to make it work. thats where all you knowledgeable people come into play i need to know what all i have to change, and if some parts off of the awd yukon's or denali's will work, and where to get some , or all of those parts. please help if any one here has anything helpful to enlighten me with please post or pm me!!

ive always kinda liked that idea, ive also always been curious as to how much the 4lo **** weighs and if it would be possible to remove it and wire in a different switch in the 4x4 area for 2hi4/hi only or some kinda custom AWD on and off button... but yea like he said, why not just push the button? that would be an easy, cost free way

The was a guy on GM High Tech Performance mag who did the same thing you want to do. According to the article, and what I researched afterwards GM made 2 different transfercases. The one you want is the autotrack transfer case as it is the one in the Escalade and Denali.

No, I never got that far into my research.
I know the Denali and SS Auto Track transfer case is just AWD HI, and the 4x4 auto Track had all the ranges you would expect.
So if you have the 4x4 Auto Track is not a disadvantage compared to the Denali / SS transfer case. As you can slip into 4wd Hi and your doing the same thing they are.
But when you consider you can drive in 2wd Hi you'll probily get a couple of mpg better the Denali / SS.
