CHEVY/GM NP-149 NEW PROCESS TRANSFER CASE
[Part# NP149-GMC]

or if its possible could some one just take a nice good high res pic of the id tag on the side of the awd ss transfer case and post it up?

Yes. NP-149 RPO Code NP3

The NVG 149 RPO NP3 is a single speed, single mode transfer case. The mode is full-time all wheel drive. It has a planetary differential gear set that splits the torque, normally 38 percent to the front wheels and 62 percent to the rear wheels.

Suite yourself. I'd almost guarantee all tags will say NP. All I've seen have.

Sorry if I came across sounding gruff. I actually have been in the same boat. Descriptions of transfer cases beginning NP (New Process) NV (New Venture) or NVG (New Venture Gear?).

The information I quoted above comes straight from the GM Service manual. It calls the same transfer case NP and NVG. As long as it ends in 149 they are the same as far as I know. They all roll out of the same plants. Name changes done with different owner shake ups and such.

its cool man, i have been trying to track down a transfer case and front axle set up for my regular cab short bed for a while now and i have had absolutely 0 luck finding an nvg149 but i have seen a few np149's, now that i know that its the same case i know where to get one, now i need to find the front driveshaft and axle and then change out the rear gears to a 4.10...
