Default leather dye for steering wheel

has anyone here ever had any experience with dying any leather car parts such as a steering wheel...i know my friend brought it up to me that people doing car restorations having old car parts done and such, didnt know if someone here has had parts of their trucks done...

i ran across a leather wrapped steering wheel but its tan, not charcoal...just wanted to know if someone had any input on this...

everything that I have seen leather wise that someone has dye'd, seems to fade horribly over a short period of time. Maybe its just the way they did it, I'm not sure...

If you dye a lighter color darker it works but not the other way around.

I did a tan interior with some good stuff from a body shop, and it worked great. Though it did turn a touch greyish afetr a bit it never got lighter.

I did it on a hot sunny day, and I clened everything down with grease remover and some acetone I believe.
