Default How do I clean up my stainless steel headers?

I bought my dyntech headers used from 2toneblown and they are fine except they look like *** now. They werent that blue color like 03GMC's or like alot of other ss headers but I think that was due to him not driving the truck very much. Now they look like **** cause a bunch of oil got spilled on them while they were really hot(dont ask how ) and so they have burnt oil residue on them and I am wondering how the hell to get the residue off and make them look like new basically. I know they are going to have the heat marks on them regardless Im just talking about get all the residue off the stainless. Ill try and get some pics up. The headers are over at mjhoward's house so Ill have to get him to take a pic of them and send to me.

Well, are they polished stainless?
I have brushed stainless headers on my Harley, I use scotchbrite and mothers, shines 'em up real nice, takes off all the blue from the heat, but you'll lose the polish and get a satin look.
Dont use steel wool-EVER, on stainless.

Eagle mag wheel cleaner is an acid that may get them clean. I think I may have some. Mothers and elbow grease would probably get it for sure.

I have used stainless steel cleaner you buy in a high-end Dish,Pots and pan store.
You sponge it on and wash it off, Than blow all the water off evrything else with a blow gun.
I never hurt any of the wiring before when i did it.

Its comes in a contaning simliar to comet and its a powder.

I just use the regular "mothers" all metal polish. Use it on my brite aluminum too. Works well with the scotch brite(on the stainless), i use the brown flavor and some muscle. Your headers will look great, dont worry!

If I remember correctly they used to make a liquid that you could spray on the stainless headers to get rid of the blue...they use it on motorcycle headers...they use it for the chrome pipes...but I dont know the name of it...I've seen it used and it takes the blue right off..
