Default Brake Upgrade Project (Completed 4.17.04)

The brake upgrade project is underway and the truck is on jackstands.

I'm upgrading the stock braking system with...

1. EBC slotted and dimpled front rotors. $225 shipped from QTP.
2. Powerslot rear slotted rotors.
3. Earl's Hyperfirm 5 line Teflon braided/stainless brake lines. $145 shipped from Thunder Racing.
4. Hawk HPS brake pads (front & rear). $162 shipped.
5. Powder coated calipers and brackets. $175 local shop.

Other items needed for project:
1. GM caliper rebuild kit for each caliper. Contains seals and o-rings. Mandatory because the seals and o-rings will be destroyed during the powder coating curing process. $40 per caliper.

I'll be posting the progress here in this thread for those that want to follow along. Tomorrow the calipers come off and will be disassembled prior to being sent to get the powder coating.

Dude, forget that stuff, get the Eradispeed for $500, on just the front, it will blow away your stock brakes...I treat mine like a race car and my brakes are freakin outstanding. $600 with shipping, bolts right on, can use stock pads, or for even more braking power get some Hawks, or EBC's on there, and it will stop harder than mine. Man, my seatbelts really gotta work when I slam on my brakes!

Yeah, the Baer Alumasport kits come with PBR two piston calipers with pads front and rear. They are powdercoated red too. Im thinking about getting this along with some Earls 5 pc braided lines.

That's awesome.....until you want to go to the track with those 14" rotors, which require an 18" wheel.....I would love a baer brake package, but can't do it b/c I love the track more.

BTW, I just got an email from baer saying they don't offer any stock size rotors for the NBS trucks, only the 14" size.

As far as that $1000 package, is that plus one as well...meaning will it fit on anything other than an 18" or bigger wheel?

I guess I'll end up with some powerslots or ebcs.

I'm rough estimating but I'm thinking it's going to run right around $650 but that's for everything in my initial list. I'll update my original post and put the prices up for each item.
