I thought the stock 17's were 7" wide? they should look close to alex's wide *** tires, except his wheels are 8"

Yea, all GM 17's are 7.5" wide. Here's a couple old pics I had saved on my computer.

I am in need of a new set of tires also and have been strongly considering the 285/60's. Just can't confirm how they will ride or wear on that narrow of a rim....... I know all the tire manufacturer's of that size spec a minimum of an 8" rim

Slvr, that looks good on the black RCSB. Was that yours? I know all suggest an 8" wide on 285's, but I see it done all the time in larger A/T & mud tires so who knows.

Have always wondered about the 285-60-17's though on stockers though, came close to going that route with a previous truck.

With a taller sidewall you can/ want to run a narrow wheel. The shorter the sidewall the closer you need your wheel and tire to match so you don't get irregular wear. You should be just fine with a 7.5 wheel. I prefer no bulge in the sidewall but you should have very little with your planed set up.

What kind of hankook? The 275 will fit a little bit better anyhow.
