I was wondering if anyone has tryed to put a 305/40-22 on a 9 inch wheel? I am wondering if it's to wide for the wheel. Tirerack reccomends a 10-12 inch wheel.

I'm running a 305/40 on a 22x9" wheel here. I have the exact same wheels you do. I've been running this combo for about 3 months and 3500 miles and have had zero problems. I got them mounted at a very respectable tire place and they gave me no problems. Brought it to them, they put them on and it's been fine ever since. The tires do look kinda meaty but I like the look. If you're planning on doing a 2/4 drop to your truck be very careful with this size tire.
I say my truck has a 2/4 drop but it actually does not. After I got the 22's it would rub pretty bad whenever I hit a good size bump. On normal roads everything was fine but most roads where I live are
The rubbing really irritated me and I didn't want to risk buying smaller tires because the roads are so bad I might have a blowout. So I bought Belltech spring spacers and it lifted the truck about .5" in the front and now I have no rubbing issues. It sits about level most of the time but sometimes it looks higher in the front
AND I don't like it! I'm leaving it as is for now but I might look into doing something to the fender because it would only rub at the lip and it would hit the tire right where the tread meets the sidewall.
ANYWAY, sorry for the length of that.
You might be okay considering you're 4x4 and you could crank your T-bars some until you didn't get any rubbing.
Here's a pic of the wheels, I can get more if you want.

Blue 04 thank you for the reply! Please post more pics up, I'd like to see them. That is the exact rim, tire combo on a 2/4 drop I am asking about for my truck. I had bought 295/45-22's to put on my rims, but they are 32.5" diameter. My friend just put a 2/4 drop on his truck with a 32.5" tire and they rub on the wheel well plastic inner liner. So I sent them back and bought 305/40-22 today because they are 31.5" and that is stock so I thought they would fit the drop well. The guy at Discounttire.com said that this tire should work on my truck with the drop and that the tire would be alright on the rim. With the BFG KDW2 tires to go down one size to a 40 in the sidewall to get 31.5" would of cost me 300.00 more than the ones I had. Thats why I went to a Pirelli Scorpion Zero in the 305/40-22 and saved $480.00!

Awesome job on saving $480. Money better spent elsewhere
I thought I heard somewhere that the treadlife of the BFG KDWs is not that long. Pirelli makes a great tire so good choice there.
I really don't think you'll have any rubbing issues. It BARELY rubbed on my truck. I'm just really picky and didn't want it to rub at all. With your T-bars you should be able to get your truck perfectly level with no rubbing.
From some pics of my truck check out this thread I posted awhile back:

Bump this...anyone else been running this combo for a decent length of time without issues? Tire shop told me I had to sign a disclaimer for them to even mount the 305's on a 9 inch wheel...
