I love me some beige... and no this doesn't seem to be hurting the oil pan


I've been lacking on pictures but the engine is about to be installed for the final time and the straight axle is still taking some time what with the cross over steering stuff and brake lines, I'm hoping to have this guy rolling within a month

 

Also i bought the factory 5.3 water and oil pressure sensors and 15 bucks worth of fittings from home depot to make this plug and play with my factory harness

 

just an idea, but if you get a reluctor wheel and mount it to the crank pulley. then get a crank positioning sensor and build a bracket for it, your stock rpm gauge would be functional.

Yea I've had this idea too and even asked if it would work in the forum already but nobody seems to know what the computer gets rpm from, Crank position sensor? cam sensor? maybe a combination of both who knows maybe i have to experiment and see for myself...

 

PCM reads RPM signal from the crank sensor off the reluctor wheel.... If you can be the sensor clearance and wheel alignment right I dont see why it wouldn't work well!

 

Bought a 28x wheel I'm going to give it a whirl and see.

 

This thing fought me tooth and nail to get it seated in but it's in there for good unless something goes horribly wrong

Still getting my clutch pedal linkage and mounting fabbed up, it's tight up in there.

 

5 speed silverado brake pedal is narrower. I think I still have 1 lying around.

 

Yea I'm thinking of either that or narrowing my existing brake pedal, Although i don't think it's going to cause an issue i was testing it out with my big *** steel toes and didn't have an issue with them being close.

Mounting the clutch pedal farther to the left isn't possible or i would have nowhere to rest my foot... yea i want my cake and also eat it

 

been dealing with all the little stuff that comes with a build like this while im either waiting on parts or machining of parts... tore the axle down to see what kind of money i have to dump into it and decided to replace all bearings, races, seals u-joints, lockouts and have the hubs machined for 14 bolt wheel studs.



Have all new brake parts to go on too with some flat black paint, will get pictures as it comes along, still waiting for the hubs to get back because no machine shop in town has a machining bit to do 14 bolt stud swap
