Well I pulled the pan and the fluid pretty much turned to varnish and broke down. There wasn't much clutch surprisingly in the pan. My Trans guy told me to flush the fluid out and start fresh. Then pull Trans swap out converters, and replace the cooler and run it.

Thoughts? The Trans was never slipping the tc clutch went out. So pretty much most the sediment would be from the converter. The Trans has 5k miles on it and about 15 hard hours of extreme temps of 260*+.

With my scanner all I could see was tc slippage even a strong headwind would make it slip..

Would you roll the dice? Or send in for rebuild to be safe? It's getting pulled either way anyhow for the converter swap.

Are you sure it was tc slip and not 4th gear slipping?

Pretty sure not positive I guess.. I'll find out pretty quick. When it would slip under load it would just go to 2600 pretty much what the Trans flashes at. If fourth was slipping it would flare up much higher? I'm open to suggestions if something dosent sound right I'd rather pull Trans once not twice..

It's coming out tomorrow regardless, I flushed the Trans out today. There was some fine metal shavings and a couple flakes of clutch. Fluid was nasty didn't smell burnt like clutch, it was more of a broke down fluid that got hot scent to it. There wasn't really very much sediment in Trans pan. And not much metal on the magnet.

I ran about 4 gallons of fluid thru it to get all the nasty stuff out before I put the new high dollar converter in. I'm pretty excited for the new stall just kinda nervous, kinda a bit of a gamble..

Yea it would flare a lot higher if it was the 3-4 clutch pack. However I wouldnt think that clutch pack will last all that long with all the stress its seen quite honestly. I'm going through that now... kind of a pain in the ***.
