Obviously, there's not a whole lot I can do from out here, just need some suggestions.
I don't think we nailed the cold start spot on, but we were confident it was good enough to idle and such while I was away.
I'd really like to be able to run the truck longer than a few seconds, keep everything lubricated you know, it will be sitting a long time.

Thanks,
Grippy
Have her give me a call and I can go over and check it all over. It probably needs a little ride around the block to get up to operating temp. If she is just going to be starting it and let it idle I can raise the idle a little so it will clean itself out. We have the idle low but it will foul the plugs if she isnt driving it around the block.

I said fouled because it sounded like the problem got progessivley worse.A lean condition will most likely idle consistently bad.Either way the truck does need a good drive around the block every week.

You can get started on fouled plugs if AFR's are decent, but when you go for a drive and step into it you get misses. I guessed tuning because there are so many adder tables for fueling that reference IAT's and ECT,s. Iv been there done that with these same symptoms and once warm everything is spot on with AFR,s. Im sure once its warmed up it is fine. It needs just a little more time on start up and idle tuning which is all part of the shake down process.

You can also have a hard time getting started with fouled plugs its a moot point.Regardless something not right I can't be a 100% sure about his problem with out the vehicle in front of me I just shared my best educated guess. So at worst he pulls a plug and it looks fine no harm done.

It is just rich on start-up and fouling the plugs. We were only able to get a little more then an initial start-up and WOT tune in it before he left. Made sure he was safe to drive it around and then he needed to spend some time with family before leaving. I am right down the street so I can go over and clean up the startup whenever it is convenient.

thanks a million joe! I really appreciate the help while I'm away on WestPac.
I sent the wife an email about this.
Maybe you can take the truck around the block and see if everything is good to go while your over. I filled the tank with Super Unleaded before I left and added 2 cans of Torco octane booster, probably equal to 95 octane in there. Don't worry, next cup of coffee is on me as long as you don't order a large, lol

No problem at all, just give me a yell if you or your family need anything.

No problem at all. I didnt bring the computer over so I will need to do that next time I go over. Everything cleans right up after the cold start fueling turns off. The plugs were just a little fouled from starting.

I had some custom ARP bolts done and picked them up yesterday. You will love them, I have a set for you when you get back.
