I ordered some phenolic spacers they are 3/8 thick and will do two things for me pick the blower up to get clearance from the actuator.. And supposeably keep the lower manifold from heat soaking. Then a day or so ago I found thicker ones that I'd like to have.. Figures..

Well I decided to put the gears I bought for the truck in to upgrade from the 342's to a 410. I pulled the cover. There was 3 ring gear bolts in the magnet, and other ones are loose.

Lol wow. This is why I turn away so much work these days. People bringing me hack jobs...just isn't worth it. Good thing you caught that when you did.

Ya it gave no hints of any issues.. Whining, grinding etc.. Pretty wild, truck was a basket case man!! I shoulda kept the bone stock one I had and had a clean slate.. This is just rediculous.. What blows my mind is none of this stuff I've found has given any hints of fault.. Hell I've been racing at the track launching off the Trans brake at 3500 and I've put 400 miles on it since the Trans and engine rebuild..

There was also 4 broken bolts on the left (ring gear side) of the posi (Detroit Gear type) of 6 total on that side dunno why, I think the bolts are too hard and they are brittle makes them fracture they are m10/ 1.0 pitch bolts 12.8 gonna be some tough bolts to track down I may get some softer like a grade 10 Allen cap screw or grade 8 hex. This ever happen to you guys? I can't be the only guy this happened to. I'm just happy I was able to get them out with my screw extractors.. What you guys think grade 10allen or see if I can find the 12.8 m10 bolts?

I had to take the whole thing apart and clean all the shavings out of it from drilling all the broken bolts out I think I'm going to run a Lucas additive with the gears are showing a slight wear pattern and a little sharp nothing major.

Yikes! Good to catch now. Could have been fun in a fast corner. Was anything right on this truck? This seems like something I would usually end up with.

Good news is the more you find and fix the better it gets.
