MTI Racing spark plug wires; and

Trick Performance 07+ composite water tank with upgraded -12 AN fittings.

Yessir. Other than Geoff being backlogged there hasn't been any hiccups along the way...I'm hoping my luck continues through the installation as well!

 

Got bored yesterday and decided to wire an LED strip for some underhood lighting...I've heard performance lighting gives you a better 60-ft, so we'll see if that's true

There's a ridge under the hood that puts the strip at a good angle for underhood illumination and also remains hidden if you're standing in front of the truck:


Ran the wires under the hood insulation:


I wrapped all my wires in black split loom to look as OEM as possible:


Put the switch in the plastic rad cover:

wow the led light strip it pretty neat. is it just the tailgate strip light? if not where did you get it and what length did you go with?

I tell you what, if you can get Geoff to get my cam ground a little quicker I'll fly down and install the light myself!

It's just a 36" strip from V-LEDs. There's probably enough room for a 48" but I think the single 36 gives off enough light.

You know before I started I had wanted to document each step with pics, but I got carried away once I started and didn't break for any pics. It's really very simple the way I set it up. I took a pic of some of the supplies I used, which included:

Single-pole, single-throw (SPST) switch
Inline fuse holder
1-Amp fuses
18g wire
heat shrink
solderless connectors (Female quick connects, ring or fork)
1/4" split wire loom
soldering iron

Really nothing to it, took maybe an hour to do taking my time.

Gauge pod from Justin (2007chevy5.3l). Great guy to deal with. I still have to test fit the pod to make sure it fits my dash, but it looks great and is a really less intrussive idea than a full pillar pod.





MTI Racing plug wires:

I was going to use MSD wires and a flame proof boot but these wires alreay have 7mm extra silicone heat shielding, stainless steel terminals and silicone over fiberglass insulation. And they were onsale at the time.
