Small update here, I just ordered the cam, springs and truetrac...annoyed that the price of the truetrac went up from when I last looked into one, but I guess this recession hurts us all...except Eaton, they've made a good amount off this build haha

Don't know how I missed this build, but I'm subbed now.

Nice job on the details.

Thanks. Trying to put everything into this log that I would like to see and read about. Bit more interesting this way I think.

Hey guys, question here: Since I'm only replacing the carrier with a truetrac, and not changing gears, I can leave the pinion alone, right? Just remove the carrier and ring gear, reinstall the old gear onto the truetrac, press on new bearings then reinstall.

Also, I plan on checking backlash and pinion depth regardless, but since I'm using the stock gears, the stock shim width should work, right?

And as far as replacing parts, I'm getting new ring gear bolts and cover gasket. Anything else to consider? The bearing cap bolts can be replaced, right?

From what I know you should be able to leave the pinion alone. Like you said you arent replacing the gears. But check you pattern regardless before closing it up still may need to adjust it a little. New ring gear bolts seem like good insurence even if its new stock bolts. Id do the main cap studs if you havent already done so, Im doing that one myself pretty soon as well as a moser rear cover along with the the truetrac I bought.

That's a good idea about the cap studs. I may end up doing that as well as a diff cover, I was just trying to keep the costs down a little but studding the caps seems like a real good idea for about 30 bucks.
