Understandable about taking it all apart. I was consumed with all of those things as well and just said the hell with it, and only went so far! An engine can go from a junker to a an endless money pit overnight!
Thanks man but I got it in there with the forklift today. Went in pretty smooth

I haven't ordered it yet actually. I'm thinking I will go with a BW S472. I've just been trying to get this engine in the truck and running first.

So now that the engine is in, I got a lot buttoned up. Exhaust, cooling system, wiring harness, spark plugs and wires, starter, AC compressor, ect. Basically everything except for the trans, driveshaft, intake mani and some random stuff. I need to get two new accessory bolts because the ones that come in the dirty dingo idler relocation kit are horrible. I also need to place an order with summit to get my vacuum block, fittings, and some turbo stuff. That way I don't have to run the vacuum lines twice. Hopefully I will be driving the truck in the middle of next week. It will be funny to see if this 293 will be able to spin the tires or not

Last night I worked for a few hours and got a lot done. Trans and driveshaft are in and buttoned up. So all I have left is getting a new heater core nipple fitting since the engine dropped on one of them and snapped the nipple off when the hoist gave out a few days ago. I also still need some accessory bolts, heater hose for my steam vent tube, and a MAP hold down (I'll probably use aluminum strap). Assembly went pretty fast so I'm excited to get it up and running.

Here is the engine before dropping it in. I had the engine hanging from the hoist for more than a half an hour before putting it in the truck, and then it decided to give out as I was lowering it in.

Then I got gramps the next day to run the forklift so I could guide the engine mounts where they needed to be. Then it was go time.

Here is how it sits now before I left work. Just need to tighten the intake down and plug the injectors/coils in. I'm waiting on a damn fuel rail fittings so I can fire it. Will be here tomorrow morning so I should be able to drive it in the afternoon. I just need to figure out a cold air intake. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. And I need to get rid of that damn heater hose holder that bolts to the valve covers. Do I even have it in the stock location?

those damn quick connect fittings are so fragile that you probably would not want to leave those hoses unsupported. Stock location is between cylinder 2 and 4 on the passenger side VC.

yeah, looks to be in the right location. you could run them right along the intake manifold then down, or route them out around your overflow then to water pump. Put a couple 90's right at firewall location then re-route them.

So I got the truck running a few hours ago. It doesn't run for ****. The first time it fired, it ran pretty good for a min or so. Then it started to stumble until it died. Check out my thread in the tuning section if you can be of help. Thanks guys

Good news is that it fires and runs smooth for a sec. Oil pressure was pretty high and all vitals look good. Just need to get it running decent enough to start tuning it.

Got it running fine. It was just the stupid DTC settings and a dynamic air setting. Thanks Jake for the help!

The truck runs really smooth. There is only one problem. It is incredibly slow . Sucks to go from the 408 to half the horsepower. Can't wait to get the turbo stuff on. Won't be for a while but it will be fun when its all together. Here are some pics/vids from today.

Triple 12 is super smooth. This is a 700 rpm hot idle. Oil pressure @ 55psi

Its making crazy oil pressure. Its pegging the gauge around 4000 rpm....

I know what you mean . I need to put some miles on this thing and get the tune straitened out.

Okay my wideband gauge is reading different than in HPT. I used the damn values that came with the wideband to set it up in HPT but it shows .04 lambda richer on the gauge. What is the fix?
