You using the same size turbo?

I'm looking for something with little lag on a 5.3. I'll give up top end. I'm building a storm chasing truck. Low to mid power is what I want!!

One more thing. Careful with the fiberglass wrap. It wicks oil and can cause nasty fires. My 500hp Subaru I ceramic coated with Jet Hot White Lightning. **** was amazing! I'll be doing the same on my Yukon.

Oh, and don't wrap ceramic coated exhaust. It will crack, ask how I know and how stupid 23 year old me was. Sigh.

Yes, Subaru equal length headers with high flowing uppipe are that crazy looking.

Centrifugal style are very RPM dependent and don't have good low power. Whipple/roots are better at lower RPM power. You're more guaranteed to get lower power than a turbo with one of these. A properly sized turbo will give great low/mid power, it takes work. The other turbo benefit is better boost control, more efficient... and for me just plain like em more.

Ok guys a few updates, I need to get a better damn camera as my iphone is just not cutting it. I see some of yalls pictures and they are clear and professional. That being said, I've made some progress and I'm on the home stretch to at least turning the motor over. I have a base hpt file from my tuner so I know the truck will fire right up and run. I got the top end back together, ARP studs, LS9 gaskets and my stock 862 heads milled .030" w/ a valve job, BTR platinum springs, BTR trunions. Always a pita to do trunions ugh, but my HF arbor press makes proper work of things, still somewhat time consuming though. Has anyone ever had a stock rocker come apart??!! Every damn build I do I'm always doing trunions. Sick of it! I'd like to hear personally from someone who has had a stock rocker bearing come apart on them. Highly tempted to run stock rockers in the future, at least anything that is under .600" lift and uses an LS6/ soft spring.

I got the manifold bolted down with the nice thick Fel Pro rubber gaskets (most expensive damn intake gaskets I've ever bought in my life, $50 for intake gaskets really??), the ID1000's installed and the connectors changed over properly to the EV6/ EV14. Holley rails and as you can see from the pictures I'm still mocking up the front crossover but I do have the -8 feed plumbed to the back of the rail. Phenix Industries regulator mounted to the left of the booster, and I bought a complete hydroboost setup from a local guy parting an 02 Escalade so that will go in soon. I clearanced the alternator per one of Atomic's posts, the 90 off the rail on the driver's side clears perfectly now.

Stupid me, I somehow broke a motor mount bolt off in those brackets that have the long bolts that go through the frame. I'll need to pull that bracket and see if I can get the rest of the bolt out, hopefully this weekend.

I reused the original 145k mile water pump, it wasn't leaking so I just bought new gaskets for it and installed a 160 degree tstat. Other parts that can't be seen: LS2 chain, TFS chain dampener, Tick stage 1 turbo cam, new cam retainer plate, new timing cover gasket, new front seal installed properly w/ alignment tool, new oil pan gasket, new valley cover gasket, new valve cover gaskets. I'm not one for unncessary cleaning, but the valve covers were nasty so I scrubbed them, they look nice. Still lots to do but I'll report back in the next few days and hopefully I can get it started.
