Guess who is still slacking

Been working on it more though since side work has slowed down some, hoping to be finished in the next few weeks. I did get this new part though since I managed to bend the outlet of the waterpump. I pressed it back in with some epoxy but now i'm skeptical, and still skeptical of the stock pulley walking off again even though its welded and pinned.

This one has a bolt on hub and is supposed to be high output so we will see how it does. May paint it black of course but the whipple bracket pretty much covers it up so you cant see it anyway.

Looks nice! Where did you buy it? I wonder if they make anything for the camaro 5.

What is the diameter of it? Do they have pulley size options? Also, it looks nice and fat which I like for belts thicker than 8 rib... just sayin.

Do you think it will create more drag than a factory water pump?

PRW makes the pump. I saw someone else go to it after they kept spinning off waterpump pullies so I kept it in mind until I needed a new pump. They had a $100 code going so I pulled the trigger. I ordered the black pulley but they didnt have any so they sent me a polished one instead. I think its the same diameter but I am not totally sure, I didnt see any other options. Drag will probably be about the same if I had to guess, but im not worried about a couple HP.

That's the pump NewEra went to on their 2012 5.3 with a 2.3 whipple. I'm interested to see how it works out for you! Hopefully that does the trick.

Yea, thats who I remember saying something about it.

I measured the pulley and it is the same as stock, about 5.75".

Hey Richard, my build is getting closer to being up and running NA and I'm starting to think about what mods I may need/want to support the whipple. Mike @ NewEra mentioned no belt slip issues up to 12 psi. I am thinking about being right around 12 to 15 psi so I want to start looking into 8 rib setups and pricing.

What did you end up running after all? Is it an off the shelf 8 rib setup? I knew at one point you were looking into having custom pullies and adapters made by Gary.

So the final story on the 8rib:

-Whipple accessory bracket. Only modification being removing a little material on the corner near the alternator to fit the metco idler
-Metco 100mm idler near the alternator. Its wider than the stock one and looks a lot better. Had to use a washer as a spacer and flip it around but works great.
-IW alternator, Power Steering, Idler (before blower), and Crank pulleys
-Custom made blower pulley. Could also get a different snout from whipple, or the camaro pullies may work but never tried it.
-Off the shelf Gates HD tensioner (same one maggie guys use) with 3/4" worth of spacers (I have some extras of this piece and sell them on my site).

I did have one made from Gary and it worked great. I had a second one made my smoothflowpullies guy (I think) that also worked great.

Overall it was kind of a pain in the *** haha

Sounds like a PITA. I'll likely end up running the 6 rib until I see belt slip. Hopefully I can hit some decent power numbers before that happens.
