I drool at this truck every time I drive by.

If you need an extra set of hands with the trans swap let me know.

And Jason, when the hell are you starting your install? Gonna be done for Carlisle?

Thanks man, I got a few sets of hands coming through to help but if things go bad its always good to have reinforcements.

Really hope I got everything right on the rebuild and this thing shifts. The goal was to take this to carlisle this year (non judged field) and the 80e is going to be the last thing before its all buttoned up and ready. Got two more weekends before the registration price goes up so I hope to test it before then.

Nice truck man. Love the outside the box thinking and doing things yourself. One question. If you put the line lock on the rear brakes, aren't you keeping the rear brakes engaged? Why would you want that? Kinda sounds counter productive. One would think placing the line lock on the front would be a better choice keep up the good work.

No. To use a line lock like your thinking when you put it on the front brakes, you must first fully apply the breaks, activate the line lock which holds the pressure on the front calipers, release the break pedal, do the burnout, then release the lock.

With the linelock on the rear, you must first enable the lock, then apply the breaks so the rears do not recieve any pressure from the booster and the fronts hold the truck, do your burnout, and release the lock when you are done.

Same concept both ways; you are locking in a pressure the calipers see (on vs. off) with the lock.

Atomic's post in another thread was the reason I used the line lock in the rear. Was searching the subject and came across pics from his install.

Makes sense. I do not have a line lock and it was the first time for me to hear of it that way. Curious as to if the OP tried it that way? Or if he is getting "bleed-by" I was just curious as to why it would not burnout well.... That truck shouldn't have any issues with burning the tires off and taking some asphalt with it.

Im not sure whats going on with it. I can hear the solenoid click, but it doesn't hold the fluid out. Also just for kicks I tried to hold the fluid in the caliper to keep the brakes engages. That doesn't work either.

I probed it and its getting 12v, I'm about out of ideas before I take it off and rig something up on a bench to test it out.

Engage the solenoid, have someone hold the brake then crack the line or if you have a rear bleeder port, open it to see if it's under pressure. Which line lock kit did you get?

I have the summit line lock. The truck acts as if the line lock isn't there whether its on or off. I tried it with the back tires off the ground so I would see it if the line lock was even holding a little but nope.

I'll mess with it again soon, the trans is my main concern right now so
