pray tell... because i've got a 450 in the car that took a lot of work to square away (custom bucket & bracket + return line conversion because the regulator was overwhelmed). i'd hate to have that go out on a hard run, as i'm already maxing out a stock LS1.
Not sure if they changed the way they manufacture them Or what.
I have heard of Lots of 250's in the 1-2 year range bite the bullet in the last few years. Only a a Few people with 450's that I know that had issues. But I don't know that many people with the 450's
I don't know if it has to do with the Fuel blend or Manufacturing and materials
I wouldn't be upset if I had to change a pump every 3-5 years. just part of the hobby I suppose. 2 years is a little to frequent and its a PITA to pull the bed but I shouldn't have to do that any more now that I chopped a huge hole.
Bench tested the assumed bad 450 and with power coming directly from the battery it kicks on. However it's not very loud and sounds lower pitched and weak compared to the new one tested the same way.
I was sorta expecting the old one to not kick on at all since I saw no FP at the regulator but I suppose it could be so weak that it can't generate any pressure 🤷♂️
Swapped in the new Walbro and she fired right up. Did about 8 full 2-3-4 passes at my local Mexico to get some data. Heres some junk to look at while your quarantined. Sorry about the terrible audio quality. I need to invest in a quality camera.
Well been seeing smoke under throttle again. At first I thought It was just burning all the oil that was likely trapped in my huge muffler. But it's been 300 miles and it's still the same. Doesnt smoke on start up that I can tell, doesn't smoke at idle but under load or throttle it smokes and gets worse the heavy my foot gets. It's not horrible like a james bond smoke screen or when the head gasket was bad. But it's enough I'm concerned. Still runs and drives fine and has taken a load of abuse.
Ordered a leak down test kit and plan to do that next week.
