Dark Star - 2014 Silverado RCSB

I'm thinking the 2600-2800 would be easier to live with on the street. The 3000 - 3200 stall might be a bit much.

Well a Freakshow 3400rpm single disk converter was ordered today. Freakshow has a solid reputation with drag racers and comes highly recommend by a guy my son works with. That guy is running one in his 70 Chevelle SS that is putting out 1100 hp. It comes with 5 year warranty and stall adjustments are $250 if that is ever needed. Freakshow Performance Converters and Transmissions is out of Abilene Texas so we hope to receive it Friday and install it Saturday.
We'll have Whitehorse tuning in Terrell make some adjustments to the tune once it's installed then look to addressing the ensuing traction issues.
Some day we'll make some passes and post some times :-)

The Freakshow converter is in. Install was no big deal. The only issue was the input shaft on the 6L80 has an o-ring on it. Sometime on a previous converter swap that o-ring had been gouged and a chunk was missing. It's vital that o-ring seal properly inside the converter. Simple fix and easy to replace So I suggest replacing that o-ring every time you swap the converter. Then be careful to not let the converter snout fall down and cut the o-ring when installing the converter.
We love the converter. Stall speed is right in the middle of the 3200-3400 rpm estimate. When the converter locks up it locks up tight, no slip at all. Build quality is flawless. The mounting tabs and billet hub are VERY stout. This really woke up the Texas Speed cam and gets into the power band perfectly. Paint job on the converter could have been better as some of it was flaking off out of the box. Packaging could have been better too as a standard quality UPS box was used. Those aren't usability issues so no big deal.
Initial impression is save some money and go with Freakshow for your converter needs.
