Default Dark Star - 2014 Silverado RCSB

Hello. This will be my build thread.

I recently purchased a 2014 Black RCSB. Initially, I added a Genetex auto-dimming mirror with Homelink and had the bed sprayed with Line-X.

Now I have the new Belltech 3/6 lowering kit installed (#988). Here it is as it sits now...

Future plans are a maggie and wheels.

In the meantime, I really like the drop kit. It's perfect.
Except it bottoms. A lot. Shocks are still factory (truck only has 450 miles on it).

I have an Air Lift SlamAir kit being delivered today, but I'm rethinking that; partially because I saw a for sale post last night by someone getting rid of theirs because it won't work with the 325 DRs he was wanting to install.

Anyway, is there a shock that would be a good replacement? QA1? Monroe Max-Air? Posts on the Belltech shocks seem to go 50/50 and it seems I would still need the helper bags with the BT shocks.

So, any suggestions? I'm wide open.

I'd get some c-notches for the frame. My 3-5 kit bottomed out all the time too. Haven't a single time since I installed the notches.

What maggie are you going with and what engine is in this truck?

5.3L. I think the kit out now is a 2.3.

I was pretty sure before the kit that I wasn't going to cut the frame, but now I'm not so sure.

Ok, I'm not "wide open". I can't notch the frame on my DD tht has less than 500 miles.

I'll get some QA1s and if that doesn't completely fix it, I'll add the bags.

Now to spend another 100 hours researching wheels.

Ordered QA1 TS802s and assorted adapters & bushings, etc. These are the Stocker Star single adjustable.

Once I get them I'll be able to figure out what it will take to make them work.

I ordered the TS802s because they had the same extended & collapsed lengths of the BellTech shocks that were recommended for my drop (2210FF).

Its a new company the owner used to work for QA1 and for the price they seems fair.
