Default Installing a Turbo400 in a 01 silverado HELP!

I have a 01 silverado that I am going to take the 4l60e out and put a turbo-400 in it's place. I know people have done it put I would like to know what was their biggest problem and do you regret doing it. One reason is that I got a 400 in the garage from an old setup I had and the old tranny is going bad on me so before I put the 70mm Turbo on my truck I want to replace the old worn out 4l60e. What stall should I run with the 70mm turbo should it be a tight converter or say around 3000rpm stall. Thanks for any feed back.

The only draw back is you lose overdrive, but the plus side of it is a th400 is a monster compared to the 4l60e, you will have to take in consideration your flexplate, converter, speedo sender and shifter cable will probably be different.... Im about to go with a th400 full manual and i have 3.42 gears with a 30" tall tire so i should be ok even on the street

I have been running a Th400 for the last 2 years. Best thing I have ever done. I have a complete write-up on the swap on here somewhere. Here is a list of parts that I used to make the swap easy.

Rossler Terminator II Th400 w/speed sensor
TCI flexplate
Vigilante lsx swap 3200 converter
Modified my crossmember
Local shop modified driveshaft
B&M ratchet shifter

You can buy a converter with the longer snout for the swap or if you get the tci flexplate you can run old school th400 converters.
You can call rossler and get the part number for the speed sensor. It will splice right in. I don't think I even had to change anything in the computer for that. I flashed my computer with a manual f-body tune to get rid of all the tranny config stuff. You will also have to wire the reverse lights and neutral safety switch. I can't remember the color of the wires but they are in the bundle with the gear selector.....driver side.

Its a pretty straigt forward swap if you get the right parts. Trans brake rocks as well.

Did you ever run an 80e, or did your go from 60e/65e to the 400?

GM has a flexplate that will work

Installing a LS1 engine with another transmission such as a early 200/700R4, THM350/400 will require the installation of flywheel GM part number 12551367.

If using the F-body and C/K trucks with the 300 mm bolt pattern will require the flexplate with PN 12563136.

The 4L80E* or 6 lug converters will require PN 12551367. This flexplate is flat and will require the use of* a spacer (PN 12563532) and bolts (PN 125635330 which is included with flexplate assembly.
