Alright so I'm new to this build thread type stuff, and I am also new to the LS world but finally am getting into it so here it goes.
The Truck
-2005 GMC Sierra Denali, 148k on the clock
The Goals
-Daily driver
-Touch an 11 second quarter mile
-Be able to tow my Land Rover with minimal modification
The Means of doing so
-New front end parts with Cognito Braces and tie rod sleeves
-4L80e swap
-Cam
-Valvesprings
-Headers
-Supercharger
-Fuel system
Previous vehicles:
All of my previous trucks were diesels, A normal 24v cummins, a P-Pump swapped 24v Cummins, then an LBZ Duramax. I know that that the Denali will never tow like the duramax, but it doesn't need to. The Land Rover fully dressed and packed with camping gear weighs just shy of 6000 pounds, and the trailer is about 1900. Part of the project personally was to buy and build the Denali for what I sold the Duramax for, which if it happens, great, if not oh well we aren't here to save money.
The Duramax 2006 LBZ, Full bolt ons, Home built Allison with a DPC Tripple disc converter and Raebestos high energy clutchs. Dyno'd 524hp/983tq, best time on the track was 13.0 @ 105 mph (slow for that setup imo) Bought it with 99k, sold it 2 and a half years later with 165k (and for 5 grand more than I bought it for)
To start this build, I had to go and buy a Denali truck (nuts right?) but I was having a hard time finding one and needed a truck since dailying my Land Rover is tough in the city, so I stumbled upon this and picked it up for $2400.00. Fully loaded with leather, mint shape, 225k on the clock, 5.3L and it runs like a top and drives great, even towed my Rover to one of the events without a struggle.
Then of course I found a Denali the next day after registering the drug dealer looking truck so here it is:
As for a Blower I am most likely going with at TVS1900 from another member on here, not sure yet on cam spec, but if anyone has any advice to offer I am all ears. The Denali is going up on the lift tonight to get an idea of what non-performance work it needs before I can start building.
Lmao welcome...I lke that drug dealer looking truck as you would call it lol has alot of potential... what did you end up doing with it?
I still have it, Its actually a great truck, I put a new front end in it and had it detailed, best $3000 total Ive spent. Trans is original with a shift kit installed from the first owner at 30k and it will definitely be the first thing to go, but if I end up keeping it then rebuilding a 4l60e doesn't seem to be that crazy.
