Is this serious or sarcastic?

If you don't relise the hole if for the side pipes. The insert is 1/4" steel and the frame is probably stronger/hevier weight with just the insert.

Without understanding your post I figured I would explain a little further what was going on incase you or anyone didn't follow it.

Behind the front cabmount. Where the front of the side pipe ends. A very high stress area hence the reason I want to make sure is is 2x over built.

I already know that shorties don't help much for HP on these motors but I bought these a wile back for 3 main reasons.
*Long tubes never seem to work on a lowered vehicle because they hit everything.
*Looking for the weight savings over the cast iron. Surprising the difference is only 18 lbs.
*With the side pipes I wouldn't have room for long tubes.

They are cheap ebay headers but I figured with the tiny bit of driving I do they will last forever. I am going to rap them along with the down pipes trying to keep the heat in the pipe and out of the engine bay. It will never see rain so should be just fine.

This winter I hope to remove and clean up all the excess wiring in this pic.

These are actually bolt in for a LS1 so I need to remove the or block off the egr nipples.

I've had lowered trucks with longtubes (very low) and hitting them was never an issue since the collectors are above the bottom of the frame rail... I dot see why they wouldn't work with your side-pipe idea either...

I'm not knocking the resourcefulness or creativity but there's reasons certain things are done certain ways...

You got to put some after burners in those side pipes.

That looks like the worst flowing collector ever.

The headers aren't top of the line but i am sure they will flow plenty good for my basicaly stock motor with a 100 shot. If I stroke it this winter I will spend some money and upgrade headers. I have also considered creating my own long tubes using these as a base. From where the collector is now straigh for 8-10 inches and a 45 on each pipe so making the longtubes would be rather easy. Just some welding.

The side pipes are getting propane flamethrowers. Small camping tank, brass tubing, a few ignitors, nice simple and lightweight system. They are also getting blacked out if anyone missed that part.

SILVER: You refering to the shortties with your final comment?

Here is the current state of the fiberglass Hood project.

The resin I got for free was floor resin so it was sticky and thick. Therefore it kept pulling the fibers up and not laying them all down like you are supposed to. With minimal sanding (5 min) I have smoothed out 90% of the rough spots. I am going to get new fresh resin and finish it up later this week. I am also going to build a scoop or some sort for true ram air but I am still looking for a scoop design that will look good and function like of needs to.
