So the last few days ive upgraded the fuel pump wires, had those broken off bolts extracted, found the right windyage tray nuts, fixed my on board air, cut the factory trans cooler lines by the rad to make routing easy, and replace the trans filter. So I started assembly tonight and got the cam installed, timing set on, all valves and springs installed, head studs installed, and checked PTV clearance (of which there is a **** ton). Should be able to complete it tomorrow...

oh and my torque wrench is broken so I need to go get another one in the morning

Everything is going smoothly, but one of the heads is missing the coolant crossover blockoff thing on the back, so I may go to the dealership tomorrow and get one, but if they dont have them in stock I can steal one off my 5.3 in the mean time.

Got the heads finished; installed all valve springs, pushrods, rockers, checked pushrod length and the 7.425 gives me around 0.5 preload which is fine. Installed the lifters, oil pump, pan, and windage tray as well as the front cover. All I have left is to install the rear cover, crank pulley, pin the crank pulley, and valve covers and ill be all finished with the assembly. Then its time to start the real fun...

Oh and I have an extra oil pan bolt from the arp kit, is this normal?? Im pulling my hair out trying to find an unused hole to use it in but im at a loss...

Yea, I guess its just a spare.... hopefully.

Just finished assembly and pinned the crank pulley. Everything went very smoothly and no suprises except I found out I need the flexplate spacer. Dealer should have it in for me tomorrow. I am going to start taking out my 5.3 after I mow the grass

crank spacer for what? not with a 60e, early year 6 liters cranks are longer so an 80e had to be used but other then that its all the same.

Yea I tried to pm you earlier but your inbox is full and ask what it was from. So it should work with a spacer on a 60e? I know the 99-00 were the ones that had the longer crank and 80e flexplate....

here is a pic of it if anyone can comfirm for sure. I will have the spacer tomorrow in any event....

Ok from what I remember the 99-00 had a longer crank so no spacer was needed. After that they had a shorter crank so they just added the spacer to the flexplate so it would still bolt up to the 80e. So with a 60e i'm thinking you dont need the spacer.
