Been on a road trip for the past few days, no updates other than I was able to score a 2500HD grille and bumper cover at a scrap yard in Sacramento

Been giving it some thought while I've been out too...leaning now towards leaving the 8.6 rear end in the truck until it breaks. I'd like to keep the 6 lug hubs. I've heard people talk about how broken rear diffs can take out a trans or transfer case...how likely is that? What is it that allows that to happen?

if the pinion gear breaks , the drive shaft can swing around at high speeds , but usually damages parts near the back

sometimes if they lock up under heavy load(wide open) the weakest link will break , and having a shift ton of tq will snap it like a twig

where you at ? im at home been waiting

We're in LA tonight, coming into Phoenix tomorrow afternoon. We are now meeting our tenant Monday morning instead of tomorrow afternoon...when do you leave for work?

I just checked prices on TrueTracs for the different axles....I could almost buy one for the 8.6 AND the 9.5 for the price of the one that goes into the 11.5, holy crap. I think that solidifies my plan....put a TrueTrac in the 8.6 and run it till it blows, then do a built 9.5.

I still don't think he will ever break it in 2wd. The tires will just go up in smoke! Not like it's ever gonna have 1000lbs of tongue weight and a 15K trailer behind it when he's on the power!

I kept forgetting about this build. A buddy of mine is doing the same thing, but hes building a RCSSB and LB7, hes building the trans and going to put a heavy tune on it. He just scored a bed from a 1500 CC. Hes already swapped a LB7 into his Quadrasteer.

I ordered a transfer case support brace from Merchant Automotive...will put in a driveshaft loop as well, hopefully those will help the trans and t-case stay in 1 piece if the rear end grenades at some point. Made it home from our road trip this evening, will get back to working on the truck in the next day or two
