Got everything running back to normal again and will start tweaking again... at a much slower and more careful pace this time

Ok need honest opinions...

The wife is very artistically talented when it comes to drawings and things of such. I currently have my engine cover and fuse box painted a silver that is close to the color of my truck. It looks good but I put it on way to fast after spraying it and there is finger prints and smudges on it. So as long as you are 5 feet away it looks fine.

Anyways.......

I was thinking I would take the engine cover and fuse box off and sand them down smooth and spray them a white gloss and then have the wife take a sharpie marker and do some crazy tribal or graphati design all over them and then clear them. If it looked good I would continue it on to the plastic above the fans and maybe even take the intake tube going into the TB and do it to that also.

Thoughts??? This was kind of the look I was thinking but on a much smaller scale for under the hood. Or maybe in different colors...??

Anything that gets the other involved sounds like a great idea....if its terrible just keep the hood closed and tell her its great. But I wouldnt use sharpie...get some black paint and a paint brush and let her go to town.

Ya, not sure how much she has done with a paint brush but can always try. Worst case is I just spray over it all with a solid color LOL. I think as long as I clear over the marker it will hold up good.

For some ideas

Pinstripe Chris

IIRC he uses a "paint" sharpie, then just clears over it, been doing it to the outside of cars for a while and its held up just fine. Like you're doing it, in moderation I think it looks cool as hell, just don't have the talent for it myself:p

In the comments on that site he says he uses Industrial Sharpies with no clear. They are still ink so they'll run if painted, but they're way more permanent than regular sharpies. If you intend to clear, then for sure go with a paint pen of some sort. Some google-ing may turn up a better option than Sharpie brand. My vote is go for it, paint is easy to change.

Where did you read that at. The first few that I read he is talking about how he was dedicating days to do clear coats after he was done on the cars.

I would think you would want to clear over all the sharpie once it's done to protect it and preserve it. Just like the same reason you would clear a regular paint job right?

All you need to do is wet sand them and clear them again.
