Default 2500HD 6.0 N/A "1 day" build

Like the title says, I basically did a "1 day" build on my personal tow rig just for shiggles- Everyone gets bored of the old slow 6.0 that comes stock in the HD series trucks.

Started with a bone stock 6.0, with NO mods, 170,000 miles, great oil pressure.

Installed:
Bullet custom cam (226/234 on 112)
My ported 243's with stock reground valves
PAC springs, stock retainers and keepers
New lifter retainers, "oil mod" done, new ls7 lifters
stock intake manifold
42lb injectors (truck/marine injectors)
American Racing Headers LT 1 3/4 w/ ARH cats & 4 Borla ProXS mufflers. No H or X pipe.
Stock throttle body
EGR deleted.
LS2 timing set installed, block drilled for chain tensioner
AIRAID "cold air" inlet pipe that runs from TB to stock air box
stock air box, unmodified BUT with K&N air filter
NGK TR6 plugs w/ MSD wires

Thats it!
Stock short block, stock converter, stock trans, stock rear (with exception of detroit truetrac) with 3 month old Michelin AT2 265/75R16 meats all around. Factory 4.10 gear.

Currently sitting on the dyno, getting tuned tomorrow. Will post results just so people can have an idea of what a H/C swap short block 6.0 can throw out. (not that there's not 100000 other 6.0's with the exact same crap....)

To date, im in just under 3,000 but will be at 4,000 at the end of the day after buying a custom converter from Precision Industries.

How big of a converter and what cam specs? Without those we will have a hard time knowing how this thing will drive, especially in a 6,600# truck.

I look forward to the results!

In for updates, what are the cam specs?

You should get a nice gain, not a couple hundred but noticeable. Its hard to guess without the cam specs.

Tune and a converter and you will have a beast.

I third what 03 and blown said. Unless you add a 200 shot of nitrous.

Pretty depressing numbers- 334rwhp @ 5500 /341rwtq @ 4900- curve is super flat and it can still tow a house, but definitely less than expected. Honestly I would be alot happier with 370-380rwhp and the same torque.

Then again, I've never hotrodded a truck. With numbers like that, I don't know why anybody would!
Was really expecting closer to 400 since I've seen these things dyno about 240rwhp stock. Was hoping for 500 at the crank.

Oh well!

As for the converter, its stock.
As for the cam, its a 226/234 on a 112
Idle is noticeable, but very nice. Drives like stock.

Anyone else used the stock airbox before? I just liked the ease of maintenance rather than one of those "hot air" "performance" air box setups.

I'll definitely post the gas mileage changes-
Before was 10/13 (city/highway).

Those numbers are expected really. Driveline losses in a 2500hd are going to be high.

I saw a post on ls1 tech that perfectly sums this up. It was in the sticky about cam selections. It went along the lines of this: "people get so wrapped up in what numbers they are expecting or wanting to see. Then get disappointed when they don't make those numbers. But they gotta realize what they started with." Say for example you're truck started out stock making 240 rwhp/240 rwtq. Now you're making 334 rwhp and 341 rwtq. Those are gains of almost 100 hp/tq. I'd be damn impressed with myself for what is essentially a heads cam headers build
