2001 Frame up build

Or is it...
LOL Since you need a narrowed version anyway... Not sure about were you are, but there easy to get out here is just things like the wider version. There is a ton of mid 80's 3/4 ton suburbans in the wrecking yards along with all the 3/4 ton work trucks that are now getting junked. I come across the 64.5 version alot. The 67.5 version is harder to find. especially in a 6 lug version. Some one seems to be buying them all up. There must be a werehouse full of them some were... I also wanted to try re-sleeving one.

How do you tell what version they are? This one is already narrowed and all my brackets welded, going to stick to this for now. I would like to figure out what year this came out for the master rebuild kit. Since I have no clue and know one even knew they had an offset pinion one.

Well my son, you must learn to be a Jedi Master at Junk Yarding Like me.
When you master the art of "Junking".
Then and only then can you learn to spot the Infamous 14 bolt 9.5 and know with out measuring it if it's a 67.5 or the 64.5 wms - wms Housing.
Bwahaa ha ha ha
Ok so the secret is... First, Look for 6 lug. Then, 4x4 option because not all the 88-98 style c/k1500 trucks had 5 lugs with a 10 bolt. The C/K 1500 with 6 lugs from 88-98 are consider Heavy Duty and came with 14 bolt 9.5 SF Housing. The 4x4 option had the wider 67.5 WMS-WMS Housing while the 2Wd had the shorter 64.5 WMS-WMS Housing. I am not sure on the measurements for the Suburban C/K Suburban 3/4 tons from Mid 70'so the mid 90's? but they did come with an 8 lug 14 bolt 9.5 SF There also more common to find the G80 Govloc. All the one's i have come across so far were 3:73. there was also 3/4 ton Vans that also had these too. but I have only come across 2 of the older vans from that period and both Vans were canadian versions. I also didn't have a tape measure with me. From what I have seen, the older trucks are more common with the 3:42 gears also some of the newer vans I found had the 3:42's with the wider 67.5 housing. The only 4:10's I cam across so far were in 3/4 ton 2wd work truck... although few and far between I know The SS454 trucks had these rear ends with the 5 lug axles...
Some of What I found through Google search on the topic...

The axle length is going to have to match rotors in use. They basically only made those axles in two widths for many years. One for trucks and one for van. The vans were 3 inches wider up until about 95. GM narrowed truck rear axle a bit in 88 too.
They made a 5 lug too for some 1/2 ton 2WD burbs with BB in 70's

Here are the 88-98 trucks with 6-lug 14 bolts
Narrow
2wd Light Duty 2500
Wide
4wd 1500 6.5L Turbo Diesel
4wd Heavy Duty 1500 Z71 with optional HD suspension (higher GVWR)
4wd Light Duty 2500 (basically the same truck as above with 2500 badges)
If you find one, you will have to use a conversion u-joint, you can get them at napa Precision part number 447.
or Neapco part # for 1/2 ton swap is 2-1153
I am so tired right now I must go to bed...
This will at least get you going in the right direction.

Well I found a slight flex out back wanted to add another triangulated brace

Brand new, perfect condition bed...

Now all cut and section bed floor raised 5.5"

I didn't want to go more then 5.5" So to get the last >1" I'll section the bed crossmembers over the frame.

Cut the firewall and trans tunnel out to accommodate the motor, (body dropped 2", motor raised 1" and moved back 1.5"

Motor view, looks pretty far back without any accessories on it

Got my hubs from Moser Friday, should have my axles this coming Friday
5x5 lug pattern, 1/2"x120 screw in studs
