I think you should try Yukon or Superior axle. Supperior axle claims 35% stronger then the factory axle. I don't see why the couldn't do a set in a shorter version for you with a 5 lug pattern. They should already have Blans for the Early 90's 454SS Trucks. respline is not that big of deal but welding plugs in makes me a little nervous. If you can't get new high performance alloy ones. I would get some of those and have them shortened I wouldn't be supprised if you could get them direct through superiour new and have them shortened to your needs... did you ask Mark Williams too?

Superior Axle & Gear® rear axles are factory designed by real engineers. No copying here. No grinding the Foote Factory name off our axles and calling them some other brand. Check out our exclusive selection of both Replacement Axles and our heavy duty series of Evolution axles.

REPLACEMENT SERIES

These High Quality replacement axle shafts feature the same Superior alloy used in our Evolution Series axle kits, along with computer controlled induction heat treating resulting in a stronger, more durable axle shaft. All our shafts use a cold-formed rolled spline process that produces an axle spline up to 35% stronger than cut splines! These are direct replacement axle shafts. No modifications needed.
For extreme duty applications, front axles, or complete kits with bearings, studs etc., check out our Evolution Series kits.

EVOLUTION SERIES

These kits are designed and engineered in-house to be the best axles on the market! We've listened to our customers, and improved on the factory designs. Each axle or axle kit solves a specific problem for your customer, and are packaged installation ready with studs, bearings and seals. Many feature larger splines for extreme duty applications, and dual bolt patterns for upgrading to larger studs.
All our shafts use a cold-formed rolled spline process that produces an axle spline up to 35% stronger than cut splines!

Check out our Page on Axle Warranties.

Superior= No, every company has mention that plugged and redrill would NOT be any issue strength wise.

Well that sux.. I don't see why they can't get the early axles that are already 5 lug and shorten them for you...

haha, I will probably send my stocks to be done for now, it's not that much $$ to respline so. We'll see, plus they keep telling me don't worry about the strength, it won't be any less than what they are now.
