2001 Frame up build
#611
DAMNIT!!!! I just read this thread from the beginning. ( I had read the beginnings of it last year when I was still active in the site and reread it tonight.) I was pissed when you started from scratch with bare metal but it has turned out nicely. I definately respect you for building your own frame. Lookin good though. I cannot tell you how genuinely impressed with your work I am.
Keep it up!

First of all big thanks to Marty, owner of the incredible http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/ Big help in letting me use his wheel tool. Made it so easy to measure and check clearances.

I did however notice my wheel wasnt perfectly centered in the wheel well, and that pisses me off, however I'll be able to adjust it once I get the bed permanently mounted I'll figure out just how much I'm off.

Cut out for the tubs, still looking for a spare set of factory tubs if anyone has any laying around. Basically I want to mimic the factory just 6" wider.

One thing I hate is when people run big wheels, or such and the tires and wheel are soo tucked in leaving a huge gap between the bedside and tire, even though sometimes it requires that to fit way up top. I kept it tight, here you can kind of see the tire just touches that lip, well I plan to roll that edge so the wheel will be pretty close to the actual bedside. Laid out I still have a fingers gap up top against the bedside

Just a quick undershot

Measuring for backspacing

Moving up front

Mounted the tire

This is set at ride height

Lock to lock

Almost laid out, need to trim some more.

It's coming along nicely. Why did you go with 5x5 bolt pattern and not the ever popular 5x4.75?

actually I have no reason haha, I do kind of wish now that I went with the RAM pattern 5x5.5 that way I could use one of the 20" spares they have, oh well. I'll just pick up a extra 20 somewhere, it'd only be for road trips and just to roll my truck on a flatbed, I just don't want to risk damaging a wheel if I ever god forbid get a flat.

, but naw I think we are the only two around here, that I know of atleast
