I read an article awhile back that said POR-15 and Rust Encapsulator actually work better and adhere better if there is a little rust on the metal... Because both products actually adhere to rust, they are designed to be put on top of rust and prevent it from spreading... If the metal is bare and rust free, a good self-etching primer is a good thing to use....

Just curious thats all. The product I use says you can use 80 or 150 grit but I have had better adhesion on a DA with 80 grit How ever I have never expermented with different types of sanding methods... Some Da's have a wider pattern and are more agressive while others are finer for doing that finish work. I am curious to see if I used a soft pad on a 7/9 inch grinder with 150 or a even on a long board how it would fair up. also i should test the diffrence between a close pattern DA and a more agressive wider pattern DA.

For those of you who are not sure what i am talking about DA's have a ratted swirl pattern wich I believe are usually 3/16, 1/8, and 3/8

Let me know what you find out about your product...
Thanks

I will, and BlackGMC my frame is pretty rust free yet there are some areas that still have minimal spot rusts... so I was thinking maybe it'd be better to be safe than sorry... I guess I could ask Eastwood before I order because I do have two quarts of there primer sitting in my garage.

Hey man I am no expert by any means I was just merely stating what I have read. OH and please don't take my responses as critisim or anything. I think your doing a great job, I am just stating my opinions on what I would do in your situation... I have done about 5 restorations on various muscle cars over the years in various rates of decay and I have tried a bunch of different combinations, I am just stating from my experiences and results......

Well I plan for August, but I'm thinking it will near completion next winter due to the amount of detail things going into this thing, including a one off front end.

For today, more tomorrow
So I needed a change from the frame work and cleaned up my personal garage today, then figured I might as well do somethhhhinggg to the truck. Took apart the heater box to see if I could remove the AC unit since I don't need it
