Default HELP!-Problem with programmer

My friend has a 2006 F-350 with a 6.0 and when he installs his Edge Platinum Juice programmer it blows white smoke and gains no power at all. When the programmer is not in the vehicle the truck does not blow smoke and runs fine. Edge tested it and said the programmer is perfectly fine. He also used someone elses exact programmer and it did the same thing. So we can only assume the problem is in the truck. Any ideas? Or know of another site more aimed at Ford trucks?

Thanks in advance, Matt.

Either the glow plugs aren't getting up to temp or he has a water leak. could be a head gasket that doesn't leak until he starts making more power? Make sure the coolant is full and also check the EGR cooler according to searches i've done.

sometimes the EGR can leak, also FYI edge programmers suck. If you want a real tune get an SCT with a custom tune. My brothers truck is pretty badass with his tunes, but with an edge, they dont tune the transmission to go with the power, so you can run into problems in a hurry.

Ok, Ill have him look into that. The first thing I thought when he said white smoke, was a head gasket.

sounds more like an overfueling problem. i agree the edge programmers aren't the best choice as ford has stepped up their software encryption. i have heard from a few reputable tuners that with the new software update the 6.4s are un-tuneable. the pcm just locks up and has to be replaced
