Default Biggest "safe" hit on an L33 5.3?

highly considering spraying my aluminum 5.3, but as i've read EVERYWHERE the easy power is addictive, just wondering what the largest hit i could run without destroying my engine is? it's 100% stock for now and been looking at starting around the 50hp range and jetting up once each hit gets boring.. looking forward to the input. future mods include tbss intake mani, cai, headerback exhaust, and vhp asp kicker cam. thanks guys!

kory.

I ran a 150 shot on a totally stock 4.8 with a hypertech tune in it 11 years ago and sprayed it all the time for months on 87 octane and that motor loved it. it's hard to say whats a "safe" hit man, you could put a 50 on it and blow it all to hell because it's already got a problem. You could put a 150 on it and do everything right and it live for a while because you have a good engine from the factory. each one is different.

Had a buddy with a trailblazer ss and basically a mail order tune. Tune was set to hit power enrichment at something like 87% throttle. At wide open the tps read 84% throttle. That truck ran like that for 40k miles with no power enrichment. He also put at least 5 bottles through it on a 100 shot. Probably closer to 10 bottles. Ran an 8.13 on motor like that too lol.

After seeing that I felt a lot more comfortable with these motors. They are pretty dang tough. A good scanner, wideband, and a little common sense goes a long ways. Get it tuned in right then let her eat!

Yeah I just stated 93 because we have that around here but fuel will determine how much timing your gonna be running in your tune. You will be safe tho with a 150 even on reg fuel just can't be that aggressive with the timing. Anything past a 150 tho I would def run a standalone system just for safety.

Nitrous outlet or nitrous express both have nice systems I prefer a plate system over a nozzle but if budget doesn't allow not a big deal

50 shot is pretty mild. Id say start with a 75 and by the 3rd time you spray you will wanna bump it to a 100-125 shot. LOL My suggestion without a doubt is NX. Pm our site rep for great deals on kits. Ive ran Nx on 5 different cars and these kits are great. Never once have I had an issue. The new proton kit sounds right up your alley if your wanting a simple setup at lower shot levels. Plan on spending $400 for a proton kit and thatll get you going for now. Later you may wanna add a bottle warmer, guage, window switch, and or anything else you wanna personalize your kit with. Order one up and join the crowd of happy juicers. LOL
