Default 2001 silverado 02 sensor

hi, i am in need of some help, my husband is 43 and not mechanically inclined, i am 29 and was raised by a mechanic, so right now we are butting heads, his check engine light comes on about 2 days ago, so he had a friend at work scan it and it reads as follows (02 sensor circut low, voltage bamb 1 sensor, p0131 #10, v2 generic) i know it is an 02 sensor and i think it is related to a fuel system issue, for the past few years whenever i get free gas credit from our grocery store he over fills the tank, rocking the truck to get in every drop he can, for the past year his fuel guage reads E until you run it down to between 3/4 and full (right in the middle of the two) and then it rebalances itself..... if you could offer any help in the way of the error code details, what needs to be replaced, what minight have caused it and what else minght be affected (including how to test those items and repair them if needed) as much help as i can get would be great, i am a tiny little blonde girl and all of the guys at the garages around here treat me as such, thanks in advance, amber

Ok, I'm LOL right now. I feel like this is a joke. But first of all welcome to the site. What are you driving? 5.3? 4wd? extended cab? crew cab? regular cab? Second of all, you are a 29 year old tiny blonde girl and your husband is 43. to him. You would probably get more responses if you posted this in the "general discussion" page. When you say bamb 1 sensor, I assume you mean bank 1, but which sensor? 1 or 2? As far as I know there is no way to check an o2 sensor. Hp tuners might be able to tell you something but it would be more worth the money just to replace it.

thanks boys, lomao, you are so cute and yes i love grease under my nails, lol, ok i think i was more pissed yesterday about the way the good ole boys treat me around here and didnt give enough real info so here we go, 2001 chevy silverado 1500 5.3 ltr. extended cab, 02 sensor cuircuit low, voltage bank 1 sensor is bad, p0131 #10 1/2 generic...here is as much as i have done since we got the truck, the air filter was changed (filter only) to a green ,(ie k&n)...replaced the starter....regular servicing done....fuel injector cleaner...last but not least its current list of problems, the check engine light came on and it gave the o2 sensor code listed above, transmission clunks when shifted to drive or reverse, fuel pump is buzzing on and off, fuel milage has dropped, occassional delayed start, doesnt start turn key back 10 seconds later it starts, it also seems to have a problem with the fuel pressure but i forget how to check that

sounds like its time for a fuel pressure regulator, a fuel pump and one o2 sensor...
p0131 is bank 1 sensor 2, if im thinking right thats the back o2 on the drivers side

the fuel pressure regulator is easy to check. start the truck, pull the plug on top of the regulator, if gas comes out, the diaphram inside went bad.

transmission clunk your feeling could be bad u-joints, or the g80 on its way out.

i would also change the fuel filter, while your at it.

how many miles does it have???

It's been a while since I worked at the zone lol, but that sounds right. I would go ahead and change the sensor and the fuel pressure regulator. The reg is super easy to replace and cheap too. Like $10-15 if I remember.
