I just wonder if the LS6 spring might have floated and let the valve hit the piston. You might have tight piston to valve clearance, and combined with the high rpm nature of the 4.8L and light springs it may have hit. If so others should show signs.

Let me get this straight.....you are bitching about GMs parts breaking after you installed a cam, springs and other valve train mods? Sounds to me like a valve kissed a piston, a spring took a dump, or the motor was over revved. Either way, I don't think its GM's fault, and it is certainly not their responsibility to replace or repair that under warranty.

i understood that warranty probably wouldnt cover it, i just needed to rant about it.
i wouldnt have even bitched to start with, until my friend at the dealer told me that he has seen this happen quite a few times on STOCK vehicles with under 100K miles on them.
in my case, i figured some part would fail eventually. just not this soon. it shouldnt be happening on bone stocks vehicle though.
oh well, i have another power plant going in, and everything is alright. i woke up this morning and got out of bed on my own two feet, so it cant be THAT bad right.
life goes on.

I've been working at the same Chevy dealer since before the 99' up body style trucks were released and this is the first I've heard of a valve breaking when not attached to a Comp 918. Hopefully your new setup will make you happy enough for forget about your misfortune.
