What else can our engines run on?

What else can our engines run on?
With all these gas prices going up I have a question. One day we will have no more gas...period, and it will be in our lifetimes. I plan on keeping my truck for as long as I can and hand it off to my son one day. By that time we'll have no more gas so what else can these engine's run on when that time comes?
Diesels are really simple to change over to Bio-diesel but changing gas engines over the ethanol and E-85 is a little more complex. Anything else out there to look forward to that can run with spark plugs and low compression...compared to diesel? And what power losses or increases are we gonna see?

I'm gonna add a flux capacitor and have a Mr. Fusion Home Energy Converter sticking through my hood. My truck and I will drink the same brand then!

Propane? My friend's dad runs his 5.7L OBS pickup on propane. He said though, since propane is a byproduct of petroleum the prices are still on the rise. He only keeps it on propane because he works at a propane yard and he gets it for cheaper.

GDamn I'm an idiot! Most of the longshormen at the Port of LA run their trucks on propane too. Totally blanked out on that one. I should ask them what changes they made to it to make it compatible. I think it's just new programming or something, I should look into it.

From what I understand it's quite expensive. I know a guy that got his truck converter to propane as an option from the dealer and was told it would cost ~10k to switch back.

e-85 is not that hard to convert to.
just upgrade to a larger set of injectors and get it tuned.
stock truck gas injectors are 24 lbs and i think the e-85
trucks use a 34 or 36 lbs injector with some kind of duel fuel
tune to switch back and forth from gas to e-85 and back to gas.
