Default torque converter

I have a PI converter I bought it used the guy told me it was a 3600 I like it but I can't brake stall it too high. I can only get to about 2200 rpms. I have this in my ecsb with a 5.3. I can punch it from about a 20 roll and the rpms will jump to around 3700 I just wonder why the converter is as tight as it is. Maybe its not a 3600 lol

Where did you buy it from? Do you have any proof of what it is or any chance you could send it off to be checked and restalled?

that is because the STR (stator rating) of the converter is probably higher, like mine.

i had mine built with a 2.4 STR, which is fairly "tight" so that i could tow small things like a bass boat, etc...

if you were working with a 2.1 or 2.0 str, it would most likely brake stall to around 3000 or better.

Is it a 10.5'', or 9.5''? Stall speed is relitive to torque put to the converter. A 2800 RPM converter behind a mild 5.3L might stall 3200+ behind a built 408. Vs 4K + behind a 8~900RWHP boosted application. You need to get the number of the converter and call it in to PI. They can tell you what it should flash behind your 5.3L. For 250 they can restall it for your app.
