Default Rocker Arm Installation QUESTION???

Hey guys, I'm kinda NEW to the LSX style engines.

My question is..." Do I need to do anything special when installing the rocker arms on a 5.3L? "

I simply put the rockers on and torqued them down. Should you rotate the engine around like you do with an old style 350? Like what you do when you do a cold valve adjustment procedure.

I was told just put them on and torque them no need to rotate anything, just want to be sure.

Thanks!

If you have swapped to aftermarket parts such as different cam, lifters, or pushrods, you will need to check pushrod lenth. Besides that, just rotate the engine until the until you are on the base circle of the cam for that cylinder, and torqe down.

I just tq all mine down to 22-23ftlbs and rotated the motor several times checking them. I did this for my stock rockers and 1.8 yella terra rockers. 35K miles later no issue or noise.

You also want to make sure the rocker is making contact in the middle of the valve stem.

I wouldnt recommend that. you do that, youll never get those bolts out. youll round the head before it comes out. ive rounded the head even without locktite and yes i was using the correct socket.

Ive had a couple back out before while driving and that was equally unfun. However I do have the nicer allen head bolts that come with the trunion upgrade so im not as worried about rounding the head.

Post 34 is the page from the service manual that explains how to tighten them.

did you rotate the motor and retorque? do not use loctite these bolts are in there tight. i always have to break them loose because my impact wont.

torque to 22ft lbs rotate and 22 again most of the time it wont need it but every so often you get one or 2
